AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL OUR MEMBERS
Firstly, I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable Anzac Day. I know many of you went to various places for unit reunions or just to catch up with old mates. In Newcastle, despite the weather all went off as planned. The light rail works didn’t help but apart from that all of us had a good day. To all who assisted in any way, thank you.
Our next monthly meeting to be held on Monday 14th May is one that I would appreciate all members to attend if possible. We have the Agenda for the RSL State Congress which will be held later in May in Albury and it is important that you all get a say in how you want the delegates to vote on each item.
The items are wide ranging going from basic housekeeping items, to tidying up wording in some paragraphs of the Constitution. There are a few motions that I would view as needing to be debated by us and then opposed in Congress. It is your right to be part of this process and your voice can be heard if you attend.
Secondly, we still must appoint a couple of members to the Sub Branch Committee, namely an Assistant Treasurer as well as getting an idea as to who would like to assist Stephen Finney and I on the Anzac Day/Remembrance Day Committee. We need a hand to help spread the load.
Last, but by no means least, Pat Halliday has put an order form out for the new shirts so get your orders in as soon as possible to allow us to bulk order.
Don’t forget that if possible, support the Diggers Club as often as you can. We can’t afford the Club to suffer while the light rail is causing such a large amount of hurt to the traders in the area.
See you all on the 14th at 4.30 pm in the Diggers Club.
Ken Fayle, JP
President The City of Newcastle RSL Sub-Branch
