THANK YOU ALL
As we head into the period of Anzac in Newcastle starting today with the Sunset Service on the Anzac Memorial Walk, I would like to offer my heartfelt thank you to the generally unseen and unheard people who have worked so hard behind the scenes to get us over the line…..again.
To try and name you all would be a task and I would, as I do, probably forget to mention someone which would be embarrassing for both of us.
Instead, let me say that without the other senior members of the Anzac Committee in Newcastle, Stephen Finney, Drew Ferguson-Tait and Joanne Austin, we would be dead in the water.
Add in all the Government and Semi-Government agencies, the suppliers of all sorts of services and logistics, the unbelievable commercial supporters who have stood by us because they believed in what we are doing for the community and you start to get the idea of the size and scale of what we need to do each year.
A special thanks to the Lord Mayor, the CEO and all the great support people at the Newcastle City Council who are rarely acknowledged or thanked for the work they do, often under great time pressure.
Please, share this thanks with all on your various social media pages, and as we head into Anzac Day itself remember that we only have the freedom to commemorate in this way because of the sacrifice of so many others who have gone before us
